Thank you for considering a contribution
of your time and efforts to Habitat for Humanity Toronto.
Most people think of construction work when they think
about volunteering for Habitat. We also have constant
need for committee volunteers due to the tremendous amount
of fundraising, planning, management, etc. required to
build just one home. The unparalleled expertise and dedication
of volunteers helps Habitat Toronto grow and enables us
to keep home prices low for our future home owner families.
You don’t need to be an expert in any of these fields
to help out. There are many tasks that require only a
willingness to learn and work with others. Volunteers
are expected to dedicate 2-5 hours a month to their particular
committee.
This is our most autonomous committee.
It is responsible for running our primary fundraising
activity, our ReStore operation. Consisting of a dedicated
mix of store volunteers and experienced retail professionals,
this committee concentrates exclusively on running the
ReStore as a business. Surplus income from this venture
pays for our administration costs. Additional surplus
is contributed to our Fund for Humanity for building homes.
In addition, this committee oversees our Salvage operations.
Sales in the ReStore are directly linked to the inventory
that we have to offer. A significant amount of our inventory
is generated through salvaging from homes which are scheduled
for demolition.
